Artist Statement

Laura Montllor started painting after working as an architect for 30 years, in partnership with her husband, Rick Box.  After his death from a battle with brain cancer, she began daily walks by Long Island Sound.  These natural landscapes provide a serene, life-affirming panacea that is evident in her pieces through their fluid vibrancy.

She says, “the wild, disobedient flow of the watercolor medium allows the earth’s natural rhythms to shine through”

Her approach to painting is meditative and her hope is to inspire others to observe their world with mindfulness and renewed joy.
